AAA is out with their Independence Day holiday travel forecast, and they show just slight increases from last year.
72.2 million Americans are expected to take a trip this Saturday through July 5.
3.48 million of those are Ohioans.
Both represent less than a 1% increase.
AAA Ohio Public Affairs Manager Morgan Dean says it’s the same concern about the war and the economy that we saw for Memorial Day travel.
He says hotels are 25% higher than last year, cruises are up 27%, and car rentals up 10%.
AAA has tracked the Independence Day holiday as a nine-day holiday period since 2019.
Dean says July 4th itself is attractive as a weekend day where one-tank trips can work.
