The Schwebel Baking Company has notified the state in WARN plant closing filings that 480 employees are losing their jobs at production plants in Youngstown and near Columbus, coinciding with the cessation of operations.
An accompanying letter from the company’s human resources director indicates production workers will be laid off starting the week of July 6th, with all employees losing their jobs by Labor Day.
Tthe company had previously said that bread production would end over the July 4th weekend.
A smaller, unknown number of employees is also affected at the company distribution and retail facilities.
