Fewer Spotted Lanternflies Seen This Summer

Concern about the growing spotted lanternfly population each Summer, but where were they this Summer?

With some exceptions, the Ohio Department of Agriculture is getting reports statewide that the pest has been difficult to find this year.

Only two new counties reported lanternfly sightings this Summer.

Last year it was 14.

The department is leaning toward last Winter’s bitter cold as the reason that some of the numbers are down.

Still, the entire state remains under a quarantine for spotted lanternflies.

Trees and nursery stock cannot be moved out of state without a permit or inspection certificate.
