October is National Pedestrian Safety Month.
And with the statistics rising, the Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging both those behind the wheel and those on foot to follow the traffic rules.
There have been more than 1,800 pedestrian-related crashes in the state so far this year.
The peak time for such crashes is on Fridays between 6 and 8 p.m.
As the sun sets earlier, drivers are advised to watch more closely and pedestrians should wear clothing that makes them visible.
