AAA defines the Christmas holiday as this Saturday through January 1st, so people are traveling for a lot of different reasons over that 12-day stretch: going to Grandma’s for Christmas, taking in a big city’s New Year’s Eve celebration and more… So it’s hard to say exactly when most people will be traveling, though this Saturday looks to be busy says AAA Ohio’s Kara Hitchens… 4.9 million Ohioans are expected to travel over the holiday period, with 4.47 million of them driving; both would set a record… Air travel at 279,000 Ohioans would also be a record-breaker; AAA’s U.S. travel prediction is 120 million.
The Trumbull County Metroparks board voted yesterday to proceed with demolition of the Leavittsburg Dam along the Mahoning River, though the decision doesn’t set well with everyone… Nearby Canoe City Park will be closed in February to allow the $3.5 million project to proceed.
