A pilot Department of Rehabilitation and Correction program starting soon at the Trumbull Correctional Institution in Warren will allow some corrections officers to carry stun guns… Right now, the union that represents the state’s prison guards reminds us that they don’t carry any weapons; customary equipment is a radio and a set of handcuffs… The department is still developing a policy on exactly how those Tasers will be used… Two corrections officers at Trumbull needed treatment for injuries suffered in an inmate attack last week.
BCI is investigating that officer-involved shooting in Ravenna over the weekend: officers say a man pointed his gun at officers who fired back; they were called there for a man with a gun, sleeping on the floor.
