Trumbull and Mahoning Counties were among the hardest hit by severe weather yesterday, at least in terms of power outages: at one point, 9600 Edison customers were out in Mahoning County and 8500 in Trumbull… The Regional Airport weather station recorded a 63 miles an hour wind gust… Traffic on I-80 was impacted and nearby Salt Springs Road in Weathersfield Township was closed two separate times for downed wires…. A shed in a Girard backyard was also reportedly destroyed… At last check at 7 a.m., under 100 Edison customers in Trumbull County were still in the dark.
After being closed for more than 15 years, there’s new life proposed for the former Ohio Welcome Center on I-80 in Hubbard Township: ODOT plans a 38-space truck parking facility with a “modular” restroom building structure, for construction in 2026… They are taking comments.
