Snow across Trumbull County during the night and this morning… Traffic was slow on most major routes , notably on the 5 and 82 bypass and on Route 422 toward Parkman and the Cleveland area.
A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Trumbull County through 4am tomorrow for another 2 to 4 inches of snow today and another inch tonight; the higher snow amounts in northern Trumbull County…. very windy today as well, with gusts to 45 miles per hour… only the upper 20s for a high today….
Municipal, county and state road crews are out on Thursday morning, treating and plowing where needed… ODOT District 4 Communications Specialist Ray Marsch gets behind the wheel of a plow at times… So he can speak firsthand to the need to stay well behind the trucks, and pass them at a slower rate of speed… ODOT says the trucks drive slowly for several reasons: For safety, to prevent snow from flying over top of the plow, and to make sure the salt doesn’t scatter too much… They have just one job to do: make the roads passable, then come back later and clear more snow off, if applicable.
